Advertising Coupons in the Mail Box- How to Use Them to Make Money!

Normally when we get junk mail, or advertising in the mail, we normally throw it out, or simply look over it right? Well i’ll elaborate as to why this is a no no for you from now on in a moment

But first. You MUST understand you are now in the business of selling advertising. This can be taken seriously or semi-seriously, it’s up to you…but no business will thrive if you’re only semi serious. If you’re in a job, that’s ok (sort of), you still are in the advertising business and that should occupy alot of your spare thinking time. If you’re not thinking of ways to generate leads and get customers in the start up phase of your business, then when will you ever get it off the ground! So, you are in the business of selling advertising…and keep telling yourself that, because new ideas will arise that will help you because you’ll be tuned in.

Back to the mail box….

So from now on, you should be looking forward to collecting the advertising out the mail right….yes! These are potential advertisers that you already know are paying to advertise…they can’t hide that from you! So take a look at what they’re advertising and offering, and get CREATIVE when you speak to them. For example…

Let’s say you get a coupon in the mail that says “Greco’s Pizzeria – 2 for the price of 1″ . Well, when you approach ‘Mr/Mrs Greco’, you wouldn’t say “Would you like to advertise in my business card display (or your normal pitch)” You would CUSTOMIZE your sales pitch to what they can relate to. Here’s a more logical thing to say… “I have a COUPON dispenser that is located in a local university where people are always looking for 2 for 1 deals…blah blah”. Isn’t that much better and much more relevant to them?

So call your display whatever you need to (in the above example I called it a coupon dispenser because I know they already use coupons for marketing)…and tailor your advertising and sales pitch to the client.

What about the newspaper…it’s full of advertising every week!

So use all the coupons, classifieds, advertisments or whatever you get in the mail box and start calling them. BEFORE you pick up the phone though, think to yourself…”How can massage my sales pitch to mold their business and current advertising?”
