Business Card Display Located in Movie Cinema
I had a great conversation with Greg Kitchen in the USA who owns a cinema complex. (He has made a couple of very good posts on the blog this week). Greg purchased displays to use in conjunction with the on-screen advertisers.
This is how the idea came about and why it’s working really well ….
You know how when you first sit down in the theatre and they play the advertisments? Well what was happening was people would come up to Greg and his staff after the movie and ask for more information on the particular advertiser they liked. Now obviously they didn’t get a chance to write the business details down because it’s basically pitched black inside the cinema, so Greg decided to look for a solution for this. So that’s how the idea of a ‘business card dispenser’ came about!
He has located it in a spot that people walk past as they exit the movie. It’s working very well and getting lots of cards taken from it. AND… he’s used it to ‘package’ up his advertising better…..so they get on-screen advertising, business card display advertising etc.
Excellent location - Excellent idea!
Maybe you could tell us alittle more Greg?

Great! Well I’m planning to hit a very special place soon. Its a place were dozens of people get together every day to attend a “social” event. As matter of fact a serious, formal social event.

A theatre location is definitely a good site. Probably best to start with the small theatre operator first. It may be difficult to get into an AMC for example. There are two studies done on theatre advertising, one in 2003, and another in 2007. These could be used to convince advertisers on the value of theatre venues. The link at arbitron.com is http://www.arbitron.com/study_o/cinema_study_2007.asp
Person frequenting theatres typically have higher per capita incomes. Check out the study above.
