Don’t Have Enough Money to Invest Into Business Card Displays?
This is just crazy! Can you believe I just got off the phone to a gentlemen, and he was asking me for advice on how to raise a couple of thousand dollars to buy some business card dispensers! Seriously, this is a tiny amount of money that anyone could get access to if they were really that serious about starting a business. You know what I said to him? “If you can’t afford this amount of money, you need to make a BIG change in your life REAL FAST!”. Now, I could have given him the sympathy treatment and told him “everything’s ok, you’ll be fine” like everyone else would, but there is NO WAY that everything will be fine in this guys life short-term. Telling him everything will be ok would actually be doing more harm then good!
Lets take a reality check here. Firstly, here are the exact words that got me very motivated when I thought I had alot of knowledge about business (but had no money). A successful guy said to me “Your bank account right now is a direct reflexion of your current knowledge”. And it totally makes sense! Think about it…. if you really did have a plethora of knowledge about how to make money, then money wouldn’t be a problem right? DON’T trick yourself into thinking you know alot about business and money if you’re actually in debt (I’m talking about bad debt here). If you can’t afford a few thousand to start a business, chances are you’re in bad debt.
How do you fix this problem? GET DISCUSSED WITH YOURSELF! Seriously, if you can’t afford to buy business card displays to get a start in a small business opportunity, you really need to do something fast, and don’t try to blame anyone else for your situation…it’s alot easier that way.
Here’s the truth. No-one outside of your loved ones really cares that you don’t have money. Once you understand this, you won’t look to blame anyone else…and guess what? You’ll suddenly get motivated and you’ll find the money to get started! And good for you if you get your head around what i’m saying here, because if you do, you’ll make more money then most people around you. Here is some interesting information out of my own personal book about ‘raising the bar’, and how it actually feels to make money. This should help your thoughts about how to get ahead and move forward with your own busines (whichever it may be)…
Check out back issues of the BRW Rich List and you’ll see the names of people who are worth $1 billion+, and if you go back to 2004 you’ll read that some of then lost up to $93 million in that year. When I read that, I was surprised that notwithstanding that they are billionaires, most of these people cried poor after this setback - $93 million is a shitload of money and they’ve lost it. Then you realise that the person who lost that amount would be very disappointed - not so much about the money (because they’ve got lots) - but because of their loss confidence. Once you raise the bar on yourself and your finances, positive things seem to happen naturally. Once you get the taste of making – say - $5000 per week, you feel you’re going backwards if you only make $3000 per week. But to somebody on $1000 p’w, $2000 is a lot of money, so it’s all about how you think. Because money means nothing, as long as you’re putting in a pro-active effort and you’re ethical, it’s a great feeling.
Even $4000 a week makes you feel you can do better and it actually drives you. If you get some sustainability so that one week you’re making five, next week five-and-a-half and then six, and your income is gradually growing on an upward trend it does amazing things does for you mentally. Most people would be happy making $4000pw but if you are accustomed to making $5000, you won’t be happy with four, so your whole mental mindset has changed and the buffer zone you’re looking for keeps you always raising the bar. And at the end of the day, as long as your expenses aren’t extreme, that’s pretty good money with the impressive advantage of gaining momentum. That’s how some people make millions of dollars, using that same mindset and always raising the bar. They constantly ask themselves, ‘How can I look for more investments? How can I make more money?’ And for them it’s not about the money because someone who has got $6 billion doesn’t need to make money to eat. Making money is a personal challenge and it becomes a game. Every day they ask themselves, ‘How can I create more value today? How can I raise the bar?’
With the business card dispenser business opportunity, you need to constantly ask yourself how you can create more value everyday, and the money will come. For me, once the dollars started coming in, I specifically remember waking up thinking, ‘This is fun now, because I’ve got a little buffer zone’. It wasn’t much, I think I had $20,000 in the bank, but that was my buffer because I’d never owned $20,000 before. I was lucky if I’d seen $2000-$3000. So when I reached $20,000 I started to – well, I won’t say ‘take risks’ – I’m not talking about putting it all out on one hit, but I started thinking, how can I grow this? How can I add a little bit more value and add another $5000 more on it. Try it yourself - start reading, start gaining momentum and attracting new ideas. You might pick up something and realise, ‘That’s what I was looking for’. And how did you find it? The answer is because you attracted it into your life naturally. That’s how exponential growth happens and it’s awesome. Some people ‘float’ a business and all of a sudden – like overnight – they make millions because they’ve put in the groundwork and then bang, they make the money. Many of life’s failures are people who don’t realise how close they were to success before giving up. I guess - for those who haven’t experienced the money - nobody can explain it to you with clarity, I’m trying my best but you’ve got to feel it for yourself. Whereas if someone reading this post who has got $millions will know exactly what I’m talking about – it’s just a game. They go straight to the heart of the matter, ‘How cheap can I get this property? What’s the profit margin? How much money can I make going into the deal rather than waiting to sell it 10 years down the track?’ You gain more momentum when you’ve got money but if you get creative and put some action behind it, I tell you – you can move mountains. In his book The Trick To Money Is Having Some, Stewart Wilde describes the positive emotions you experience from having real money in a chapter called ‘Feeling Rich And Loving It’. I recommend you read about how he feels when he’s got money and is creating cash-flow, because he makes it sound as if he couldn’t be happier! It’s a real feeling of personal strength, because you exude a self-determination that no employee can know. It’s the realisation that an employee on $50,000 a year hasn’t got any disposal income, and no investment income either, in fact such a person probably has a bad credit rating having run up all his/her credit cards, and they are powerless to take affirmative action and cannot proceed because they can’t do anything until they’ve fixed the money question, which is what this chapter is about. It takes courage to push yourself to places that you’ve never been before, to test your limits, to break through barriers, but it’s worth it.
I remember about two years ago that I wanted to find a way to make money without having to sell anything to anyone… I just needed a break from selling. Did I find it? Yes…and now I make money every morning before most people get to work…and I can do this no matter where I am in the world. I now have the piece of mind that no matter what happens, I can make money. So for you, do whatever it takes to find the money to start a business. The investment to get into business card display advertising is very little in the scheme of things, and it would even fit on a credit card in most cases!
Bottom line: If you can’t afford to start this business, get angry with yourself! Search hard to find a way to get the funds…do whatever it takes! AND don’t stop until you do. It’s generally the people who ’stop’ that have no money.
Hope this helps, and feel free to comment and ask questions.
