How to Create Word of Mouth in Business

How do you increase the chances of local business owners advertising in your business card displays?

Yesterday I was sitting on an aircraft on the way to a meeting, and I decided to pick up the inflight magazine to get alittle background on the place I was about to land. Whilst flicking through the pages, I came across an article written by a lady that talked about how she generated word of mouth business through a simple newsletter she wrote.

You will notice that alot of online newsletters are 95% filled with content that is either plugging the business that is writing it and saying how great they are, or offering you things to buy… it’s all about them them them. The point being that it’s not really exciting to read, and the chances of you reading the same newsletter again is slim to none next time it arrives in your inbox.

So what’s her secret to getting customers?

She writes newsletters that offer real money making information that helps people improve their business fast…. information that is outside of her own business interests and can be used right away. Her formula…

I provide information that will make people think “she should be charging for that” or; “she’s giving away secrets here that her competitors could use!”

Her main goal is to keep people interested in her newsletter time and time again by providing quality information that people can use right away in their business. She’s not scared of competitors reading it because that’s how she became successful in the first place (Gaining readers trust by giving away all her business lessons and tips uncensored).

At what stage of the newsletter does plug her own business?

She puts a subtle little link to her website at the bottom of all the information that says something like “For a simple newsletter template that will help you grow free word of mouth business for your company - CLICK HERE”
