This is an awesome idea Dean!
I didn’t even think of this. Now that I can see it with the script, it makes sense to do this. I know my local printer aswell.
To take it one step further, what if you left a display with the printer so people can touch and feel it? If the printer actually points people towards it when he hands them the flyer, then they can see it with their own eyes. Tangible idea if you know what I mean?
Anyone?

Hi Nattytude,
Yes, this is a good suggestion.
If you happen to have a spare display…use it! If the printer is wise (you may have to educate him/her), they will see it is a smart idea to have a display in their store.
The one thing you must remember, the majority of business owners like the concept of business card displays, it’s just that they don’t know about them. This means that you have to get the display infront of them, and a printers clientel is the perfect ‘audience’.
All you need to say to the printer is something like this…
“Mr/Mrs Printer, If we can put this display in your store for your clients to see, then you will certainly make more money from referrals. Here’s how. Everytime you hand business cards over the counter to someone who has ordered, all you have to say to them is…”Just to let you know, we have a promotion going that allows you two weeks of FREE advertising for my clients only…here, take this brouchure and give this person and call. See this business card display, they are all over town and this company will put your cards in there for a FREE trial”
If you can educate your local printer to say something along these lines, then you will both make more money!
You could even pay the printer a small fee for everyone that goes in your display for FREE…that’s right, give the printer an incentive to started talking about your display!
Also, put the printer in one of your display just for good measure!
AND GUESS WHAT??? When the client goes ahead on a contract with you, then your going to need to get more cards printed…so the printer not only gets a referral fee, but more money from the card printing. Sounds like the printer is getting a great deal under this structure…agree??? (good win-win)
Thoughts and feedback please.

Tomorrow one of my machines will be at my local printer with my brochure, that he printed for me, by the way. An extra machine here and there can be a good thing.

An idea to use with Printers.
Anyone who prints business cards in the absolute perfect person to do a JV with. Printers have clients coming into their store all day long to pick up business cards. And online printers have a database of people who have purchased cards!
Here is why printers will be interested in your offer…..
Put yourself in the printers shoes for a minute. Someone calls you, you print their 1000 cards for them and that’s it, you don’t see them for another year. For a printer, it’s a almost a one-off sale…or the sales are few and far between.
Now, I’m sure your aware that an ‘upsell’ is always important for any business right? EG McDonalds… “Would you like coke and fries with that?”. Well for the poor old printer who has very little repeat business and low profits (once you factor in the cost of printing machines, equipment. overheads and staff), he would surely jump at the chance to make some more money right…or to have a risk free ‘upsell’!!!!!!!
Here’s the idea:
Go to your printer and say “Mr printer, I have this business card display here that requires alot of cards to be printed…actually I have 10, 20 of these displays. I would like you to do all my printing for me, is that OK?”. NOW YOU HAVE HIM IN THE PALM OF YOUR HANDS!!. Of course he is going to say “YES PLEASE”
Next: You say “All you have to do Mr Printer is hand out one of these brouchures to each and every client who comes in to pick up their cards”. (This would be your brouchure with a picture and great offer to advertise in your displays)
He then might say “But they already have the cards printed…how will I make extra $$$”. You then say “Mr Printer, if these people accept the offer, I will be ordering ANOTHER 1000 cards off you right away from each client, so just by handing out this promotion you could double your sales to each client” (because you can package in your printing with the contract to advertise in your displays!)
Get the idea? Now…how many printers can you do the same deal with in your area???
The outcome. You get exposure to your EXACT target market, your not asking the printer for one single cent…so it’s no risk, and you both make money!
Any questions?
Thoughts, feedback and ideas please.
