Interesting Location for Business Card Advertising Dispensers
Here’s an interesting location for your business card dispensers that is not mentioned in my quick start manual…I recently got an email from a gentleman telling me about a location that’s getting 100+ cards per week taken… that’s a very good ‘take rate’. He initially thought this location wouldn’t even work in the beginning, yet it turned out to be his best one…you just never know! You know when you go to a restaurant, diner, café or any other place where you sit in one of those little ‘booths’ that butt up against a wall and seat 2-6 people? Well what he did, is he put a business card dispenser on the wall at the end of the booth. Why is it working so well in this location? When you initially think about this location, it most likely crosses your mind that there isn’t much ‘foot traffic’ walking past to take a card… and you would be correct in your thinking. Here are 4 reasons why this location is working without heavy foot traffic:1) To start with, rather than a business card dispenser, he’s actually labeled it as a ‘coupon dispenser’… so their not taking a business card out the machine, they’re taking a coupon.2) Picture yourself for a moment sitting in one of those booths with 1, 2 or 5 other people. Your going to be sitting there for at least 30 minutes, and at some point during that 30mins one of you would have to notice the dispenser right there in front of you right? If anything, it would become a conversation starter for a lot of people… you can certainly imagine one person out of each group that sits in that booth saying… “Isn’t that a good idea…blah blah”, you know what I mean? It’s an interesting ‘entrepreneurial’ topic to talk about. (And of course you’ll also have your own card in that dispenser saying something like “You noticed this dispenser didn’t you… so does everyone else that sits where you are right now. ADVERTISE HERE… take a card now for contact details about how to get the cheapest most effective advertising rates in town!”… or something to that effect )3) People wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to ‘try it out’ and see how it works4) The coupon dispenser is full of great offers that they can save money on, so of course they’ll take one! One of the spots in the display is for the host business location to offer a deal of their own, in exchange for the wall space.Back to the foot traffic… it’s not about how many people walk past, it’s about how many cards get taken that determines the success of a location. If 10 different lots of people sit in that booth each day, and they take just two different coupons per table, that’s 140 business cards or coupons taken per week!Depending on the size of your display will determine if this could be a good location for you. This gentleman purchased a compact wall mounted business card display from me directly, so in this case it was just the right size.If you have any unique locations you’d like to share, we’d love to hear them here on this blog… just write in the comments box below and I’ll publish it within 24hrs.Stay out there… advertising is a great source of recurring income if you persist!Dean

I agree, people love coupons. You can also partner with a local printer and make money off selling the coupon cards. The best part is that they know where the card came from and they will renew when the time comes.

I agree that people will be more inclined to pick up a business card labeled as a coupon. However, I don’t think this is part of the success, because you can label it anything you want and people will still pick it up.
I find myself in situations all the time where i’m waiting with others around. If I, or anyone around me, sees a business card or a group of them I will pick them up to take a look.
I think the most important part is to make the business card stand out. Maybe by using a unique layout or color scheme or images.

I think that positioning the dispenser as a coupon dispenser rather than a business card dispenser is a very good idea. The difference is a subtle one but I think the positioning is better.
