Lead Generation Idea Through Banner Advertising - Interesting!
This is a pretty cool way of getting customers and raising awareness!
As I was driving into town this morning for a meeting, I saw a very interesting advertising technique! There is one main traffic intersection that everyone needs to drive through to get into the city…and this morning there was three guys holding up this banner that said “STOP the Mosquitos!” right there at the intersection…and I had no idea what they were actually on about! I’ll tell you what they were up to in just a moment, but here’s why it was so clever…
The banner actually looked like one you would see people carrying at a protest…you know, really wide and three people across holding it? It really did raise my curiousity as to why they had this banner saying what it said! It turns out there was an underlying motive from these guys, they were actually banner advertising. Here’s how…
Firstly, I love discovering new advertising techniques and concepts, and I wanted to know why they were there holding this banner. Within about 10 seconds I had it worked out. When I looked to my left after passing them by, there was two vans on the side of the road, and guess what the vans said on the side of them in BIG letters? “Joe’s Pest Control Services”. Can you see what they were actually doing?
What they were doing, is motivating people to think about mosquitos, cockroaches etc being a pest around the house, then they strategically parked their cars just past the banner, advertising their business name of course! This was very smart for quite a few reasons that I could think of…
1) It was a very simple and quick advertising message to read
2) It looked like a protest rather then advertising
3) It gets people thinking about pests around the house and motivates them to take action to remove them.
4) Very high traffic advertising location
5) Cheap to do… one hour of their time in the morning, and they can use the advertising banner over and over.
6) Their business name was right there for everyone to see just a few moments after they read the banner!
So there you have it, a simple idea that works very well. I know for a fact it worked with me, because here I am writing about it!

In regards to packaging your deals, you might like to investigate the costs of buying yourself a big advertising banner that you can use to dramatically enhance the appeal of your offer.
For example, you could ‘rent’ someone’s fence that lives near a high traffic intersection and place the banner there. Then you can simply change the sign around and put your clients message in it for one week as part of your package when they sign up for your business card displays (on a 12 month deal). This would get them excited about advertising in your displays, because they will know they are getting instant new traffic (lots of new eyes) to their message, and they can drive past and see it also, which is even better!
My research about banner advertising shows up that you can get a very large banner with a complete set of interchangable letters and numbers for about $400 - $500. This is pretty good considering you own the banner, and only two deals will have it paid for.
If you think about it from the business owners perspective, the ego boost the client will get by seeing their message in the high traffic intersection will be enough for them to make a decision to buy from you. They can have whatever message they like and you keep control. Some clients may only like to advertise in the banner… no problem!
This is obviously a more adventurous idea to test, but if you can make it work, it’s going to be a very powerful additional to you packaging! You can even advertise your own business in the banner and get seen by 100’s of cars each day!
