Just a couple of questions for you Jon.
1)Did you have cards in the display when you showed them?
2)What did you offer them?

I am offering one free space in one of my other units as an incentive to let me place the unit in their business. This is really not costing me anything and I think it will make it easier to sell them advertising in the other units in these towns.
My county is somewhat different in what other may have in that I have 17 different cities or towns. I am guaranteeing exclusive advertising for any units in each specific town if they take all the units in that town, which for these first three towns being the smallest in population will have 4-6 units per town.
As far as what I have in the displays when I take it in to them I have printed up on various colored cardstock a variety of types of businesses which will be my most typical advertiseres. These are in large bold letters and I put these in 14 of the spaces. I then put my business card in one compartment which I have filled with my card so I can show them how the unit works. The other space I have filled with my cards also but I do not put my card on the front so that they can see how the cards are filled in the unit. This seems to make it easy to describe the unit in a minimal amount of time and everyone has taken my card after I dispense one.
This is how I have done things and so far it seems to have worked very well.

That sounds great Jon…and you method mentioned above certianly keeps working!
I can picture you dispensing a card out of the unit infront of them, then handing it right to them. I think this is powerful, because if you take a card out, then hand it directly to them right away, it gives them the FEELING of what it would be like for others taking their card!
This is important info to note down for next time you go and see a potential advertiser. THE MORE HUMAN CONTACT AND INTERACTION, THE HIGHER CHANCES YOU WILL MAKE THE SALE!
Get the location owner involved, unless you are 100% aware if the are visual, auditory or kinesthetic. I’ll explain what this means in my next post for those of you don’t understand what I mean.
I’m going to post this same message in a couple of other catagories, because it’s an important part of the sales process.

Nattytude,
Yeah, I usually bring displays to meet with potential locations. I also set one up every time I go networking. People don’t have a clue what you’re talking about until you show them a display. I ALSO had a picture of a display printed on my business card. So, when someone asks “what do you do?” I can show them a picture. And since I have my card out anyway, I just give it to them.
