Hi Dean: There are two areas of mayor concern for me:
1- How much to pay to the business to keep the BC Display on their premises. Because REALLY the idea/concept to be able to place them FOR FREE its not realistic!
2- How much to charge to advertisers? Somebody said ABOUT $800.00/YEAR (KEEP DREAMING)!
I do have my own opinion/idea, but been a rookie on this industry I do preffer to hear what the more experienced members have to said before expressing my pricing concept.

Good questions. Here’s my thoughts…

1) You may need to adjust your thinking slightly about getting the locations for free, because it’s been done many times. I know someone who’s got many displays located simply by telling the location owner that the display will increase foot traffic through the store!

In saying that, from my experiences and from feedback that other display operators have emailed me, the most common way to get the display located is by offering the business owner free advertising in ONE of your other displays. So essentially, that’s not free, you are actually giving up revenue from the display you put their business cards in.

2) Regarding the $800 per year, I believe that was for 3 locations that are ‘grouped’ together.

A good starting point is $1 per day. I have always suggested that this is at the higher end of the scale of what you can charge…and if they only want to advertise in one of your displays, then certainly shoot for $1 per day. You can then possibly create a sliding scale whereas the more displays they advertise in the cheaper it gets. You will also need to factor in if it’s a 6 or 12 month contract aswell.

So in summary, create yourself a ‘table’ that outlines prices v’s how many displays they advertise in v’s 6 or 12 month contract.

You then should consider incentives to get them onto 12 month deals, like one month free (last month), or 1000 business cards free etc.- At the end of the day, it’s all about how well you package the offer. What else do you do? Do you build websites? Do you print business cards? Do you have marketing experience you could help them with? Do you have any sales and marketing manuals you can package in? Are you an accountant…you could help/advise them included in the deal? Use whatever past experience your have into the deal to add value!
