Hi Steve,
Thanks for your thoughts about retaining rights to business card designs. Protecting your IP is so critical these days due to all the copycats out there on the internet. No matter what your create or design you should get copyright protected… I don’t think putting the copyright symbol it enough these days even though it does protect you if you want to go through the long winded motions of chasing someone down.
Me, well I took it a step further with all my products i’ve created. I actually paid for legal copyright and they are filed by a copyright protection agency. Why did I do this? Apart from the obvious reason of not getting copied, they will chase the person down and impose an immediate $10,000 fine. All I need to do is email them the details of the copyright, and they have people (solicitors) in all countries who chase it up. That’s how they make their money, so service is guaranteed
Anyone reading this post who hasn’t protected themselves over any original products they’ve personally created, please do so! Simply type in ‘copyright protection’ or somthing simular into google and check out what’s available to you… it’s worth it!

You definitely should maintain the right to your design work. When a client purchases a business card they are purchasing the design printed on paper, a tangible item. They are in no way purchasing the design itself. You put in the time to make it and hence are entitled to the rights.
I definitely am looking forward to this package you are talking about.
